2026 Battery Atlas Sheds Light on European Value Chain

The Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) of RWTH Aachen University has published the third edition of its Battery Atlas. Subtitled “Mapping the European Lithium-Ion Battery Industry,” the publication is a data-based overview of the European battery value chain.

Next-gen technologies included

The Battery Atlas 2026 covers ten market segments, including battery cell manufacturers, module and pack producers, machine and plant manufacturers, quality assurance companies, active material suppliers, recycling companies, as well as passive cell and battery system component providers. For the first time, it also maps developments in future battery generations, including solid-state, lithium-sulfur, and sodium-ion technologies.

Companies located geographically

According to the authors, the Battery Atlas aims to promote transparent industrial networking within Europe, mapping players along key process steps across the entire battery value chain. The structure continues to follow a cartographic approach in which companies are located geographically and assigned to their respective market segments.

The 2026 Battery Atlas is available for free in the Battery-Newsʼ download section.
